Projects management

Your projects can be saved locally on your device and in the cloud if you have an account and are logged in. This allows you to design your products at your own pace or save them for future orders.

Save a project

Photo Book designed

From the designer, clicking on the Save button in the top menu will bring up a window where you can enter a name for the project. Once written, clicking on Save will save the project locally on the device. Clicking on Save online saves the project in the Saal Cloud and makes it accessible from any device via the Online Designer. You must have an account and be logged in to save online.

Save project window

If your project has already been saved, clicking on Save will display the same window with the name given to the project. Click on Save again to save the changes you have made. If the name is changed, for example by adding the number 02, a copy of the project will be saved with the new name, leaving the original project intact.

All saved projects, whether online or local, are available in the Projects folder. This folder can be accessed from the designer by clicking on this button in the top menu, or when running the software by clicking on the Projects button in the right-hand menu.

Projects folder

All saved projects can be managed from this folder. It is possible to search for projects by name using the Search box at the top. Each project is displayed with the product information and title under which it was saved. The management options for each project are shown on the right.

If the project has been saved to your device, the Save online button will appear. If you click this after logging in, the project will be uploaded to the Cloud and the status of the project will change to Saal Cloud. This means that as well as being saved on the device where it was created, the project will also be saved in the Cloud, in the account you are logged in to.

Multiple projects saved in Projects menu

Clicking the bin icon to the right of the project will delete the saved project both locally and online.

To open a project in the designer, click on the project itself or click on the wrench button to the right of the project.

Backup

The software allows you to access older versions of saved projects if required. To do this, right-click on a project in the Projects folder. A menu will appear with options such as Edit, Export, Delete and Backup copy. Hovering over the Backup Copy option will display a list of available backup versions along with their respective save dates. Clicking on a backup version will open it in the Designer interface. After editing, it is recommended that you save the modified version under a different name for future reference.

Export projects

It is possible to export the project as a preview so that it can be shared before printing or to export the programme file to run it on another device. From the desktop software, click on the Share button in the top menu and the options will appear.

Share button clicked, export options displayed

Export PDF preview

This option allows you to export a PDF version of the project that can be shared as a preview. It is possible to add a watermark to the PDF preview file. In the Settings menu, under the Watermark heading, a text box appears. If the PDF export: show watermark option is enabled, the text entered in the watermark text box will be used as a watermark when the PDF preview file is exported. Please note that the PDF preview file is not a full resolution file and is only intended to be used as a preview.
